Burnt Wood Wall Clock – Sand Dunes
The Burnt Wood Wall Clock SAND DUNES has been crafted from wood salvaged from a shipping pallet.
Our ethos is to only work with reclaimed wood.
The first step is to prepare the wood by taking out all the nails. Once de-nailed and sanded the wooden pieces are glued together along their longest edge. Once the glue has dried the circle is cut out using a router.
For this Burnt Wood Wall Clock we used a torch to burn the wood until the surface was blistered, much like Crocodile skin to look at. Then we brushed the charred wood off with an abrasive wheel. With a very coarse brush we were able to dig out the softer wood which effectively raises the natural grain.

Finally the clock was dyed with a water based wood stain and then polished using Liberon Black Bison wax. For this particular clock we used “White” dye which has given the burnt wood a lovely sandy colour. The grain and colour of this wall clocks bring up happy memories of a desert safari Shalini went on when she was working in Dubai a very very long time ago.
Size: 26 cm round and wall mountable.
